What is the Pilates Reformer?

The Pilates Reformer is a traditional, specialised and versatile piece of equipment designed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920’s to support people achieve an effective and lasting rehabilitation from injury and increased strength and fitness.

Benefits include:

The Reformer enables the precise targeting of key muscle groups supporting rapid improvements in core stability, muscle strength, balance and coordination. This improves athletic performance, back-pain, injury recovery, weight loss, balance, bone density and posture.

Reformer exercises work the body systematically through a range of movements, specifically targeting the building and toning of muscles and increasing stability throughout the joints. Reformer Pilates works the entire body. It is generally more intense and more dynamic than mat-based Pilates, due to the use of springs and pulleys which add individually tailored resistance to the workout.

“After suffering a foot injury last year, my physiotherapist recommended that I try Pilates Reformer to aid my recovery and protect myself from future problems. I have been going to Beth weekly for about three months and have noticed a marked improvement in my stamina, strength and a reduction in pain. My physical confidence is growing and I am now able to do other exercise without the fear of further hurting myself. Beth is a kind, patient and calm teacher. She is always encouraging and supportive, while pushing me to challenge myself in new ways. I would highly recommend Reformer to anyone who wants to increase their core strength in a safe, controlled environment and am very happy with the results I am seeing.”
